“A woman’s perfume tells more about her than her handwriting.”
― Christian Dior
When it comes to fragrance, I usually opt for the ones with floral notes that make up a girly and feminine scent – Romance by Ralph Lauren, Very Hollywood by Michael Kors, Love is Heavenly by Victoria Secret – the list could go on!
When the colder weather approaches I try to experiment with richer scents, replacing the florals with fruits instead. When my lovely friend Hana introduced me to this perfume as ‘the dupe for Jo Malone’s Blackberry and Bay scent’ but with a bargainous price tag I was intrigued. Off we popped along to Boots and within one spritz I had been won over by Florence Anne’s fragrance.
I am a lover of Fig scents anyway and despite its subtlety in this fragrance due to the more overpowering blackcurrant scent, there is a lovely undertone of ‘fresh coriander and davana oil, evoking luscious green Mediterranean fig’ (don’t worry, the coriander notes are VERY subtle). It lasts on the skin for a good few hours, just spray it on in the morning and again before you go out in the evening. The glass bottle accessorised with a pretty black bow is handbag friendly, and has a certain elegance about it without needing to pay an extortionate price.
About the lady behind the scent:
‘Florence Anne Boot was born in 1863 in St Helier, Jersey. Married to Jesse Boot in 1886, she had a passion for fine fragrance and played an important role in bringing affordable luxury to Boots.
Florence Anne fragrance has been inspired by Florence’s love of botanical fragrances created with high quality ingredients for a sumptuous and sophisticated fragrance experience for body and home.’
From the pretty packaging to the rich and fruity scent, this has to be an essential for your handbag this Autumn/Winter.
I took advantage of the 3 for 2 on Boots’ Christmas gifts when I bought this a couple of weeks ago – a great way of buying Xmas presents on a budget. For those of you who perhaps prefer a more floral or spicy scent, try Florence Anne’s Patchouli & Clive Eau De Toilette – a warm and sensual combo with ylang ylang floral notes.
